POSITION TITLE: STAFF ACCOUNTANT 
 
JOB SUMMARY:
Performing the day-to-day financial accounting for Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce.  Managing financial records by preparing financial documents and reports, maintaining the general ledger by performing monthly accounting entries, managing receivables, ensuring adherence to GAAP, focusing on tasks like accounts payable and receivable management while applying strong attention to detail and understanding of accounting principles. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
FINANCIAL:

  • Manage all aspects of Accounts Receivable, invoicing for member dues and events, cash deposits and entries, donations and membership updates through the Chamber’s CRM.
  • Tracking income and expenses related to Chamber events.
  • Track all grants received, coordinate with grant organization on reporting needs and required reconciliations.
  • Manage aspects of Accounts Payable; vendor management and resolving invoice or payment discrepancies. Also, monitoring lost checks and performing fraud protection procedures.
  • Ensure federal IRS payment reporting compliance by verifying proper W-9’s on file and maintaining appropriate vendor records.
  • Prepare and make remote bank deposits for Bentonville Chamber of Commerce.
  • Assist in supplying information for audit requests. 
  • Assisting in yearly budget process and producing related reporting as required.
  • Evaluate financial reports and find solutions for managing expenses while maximizing profits.
  • Create and review financial policies and conduct regular assessments of financial procedures.
  • Source and negotiate contracts with vendors and partners.
  • With Chamber leadership, oversee Chamber’s annual audit.
  • Report to Chamber Board of Directors and/or Finance Committee, as needed.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Accounting degree or equivalent accounting experience required.
  • Tech savvy with the ability to operate a CRM.
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online software preferred. 
  • Non-profit experience preferred. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • High level of confidentiality required.
  • Be proficient in Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, integrity, be self-motivated, demonstrate professionalism and discretion when dealing with confidential information and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. 
  • Ability to interact with the public at large and Chamber members effectively. Participating and working at Chamber events when required.
    
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical demands of this position include lifting, bending, filing, sitting, frequent computer and telephone use.
