Description

Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area to host a special “Nature Connection” with Lori Carter (ROGERS, Ark.) – From 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2025, Lori Carter will facilitate what is commonly known as “Forest Bathing”, beginning at the historic Van Winkle Trailhead. Forest Bathing isn’t leaping in a creek but rather immersing oneself in nature with the ultimate goal of full relaxation. “Take a gentle pause from the chaos of life and join me for a guided Forest Bathing Walk at the Historic Van Winkle area,” Carter said. “Forest Bathing is rooted in the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which roughly translates to “taking in the essence of the forest”. We are “bathed” in the essence of nature. This is a time to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself, others and the natural world in a meaningful and nourishing way. During this 2-hour experience, we’ll move at a relaxed pace among this beautiful natural space, allowing our senses to guide us. Through a series of mindful invitations, you’ll be encouraged to notice, feel, and be fully present with the world around you. There will be moments of quiet reflection, opportunities to share, and a closing tea gathering to celebrate our time with ourselves, the land and each other. This practice is designed to support emotional, physical, and mental well-being. No previous experience is needed—just bring your curiosity, an open heart, and a willingness to slow down. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, seeking inspiration, or simply longing for stillness, or just desire to be outside, this walk is a chance to remember that you are nature and receive whatever it is you need in the moment.” The event is for those 12 years and up. Cost is free, but reservations are required. Call 479-789-5000 to reserve your spot.
