Featured Cyclist - Dan Bartlett, EVP, Corporate Affairs, Walmart
The WalStreet Member Bike & Brew is a high energy, next-gen social event for everyone from bike borrower to the aspiring adventureprenuer wishing to make new friends, engage in our community and increase their professional network while enjoying the world-class outdoor amenities NWA has to offer. The event is presented by Nabholz and powered by the Greater Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce and is open to all. This is less a ride atmosphere than it is a post-ride atmosphere.
The bike route will take our riders around town to 5 featured stops. The check in will start at 1:00 pm at the Bike Rack at 8th Street Market, 801 SE 8th St. Then we kick things off with our Welcome and our featured rider Dan Bartlett, EVP, Walmart Corporate Affairs. He will share details about biking in Bentonville, the new Walmart campus biking goals and how cycling is being integrated into the new campus.
Then at 2 pm it's on to the charity poker ride, which covers roughly 8 miles over 2 hours with stops along the way to demonstrate the ease of cycling and engagement with local merchants. After the ride cyclists will ease over to Bike Rack Brewing for the post-ride party, that will feature food, craft beer, music, and a bicycle stunt show by Chris Clark
This year's ride supports the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County.
For over 35 years, Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Benton County has been providing scholarships and other assistance to Benton County single parents as a way to change their lives and the lives of their children through education, which has a positive impact on the entire community. Without an education, many single parents will continue to depend upon food stamps, HUD housing, Medicaid and other government assistance even while they are working. Our programs and services are designed to remove barriers faced by single parents who are juggling multiple roles. In addition to scholarships we provide: academic and career guidance, personal counseling, life skills workshops, job coaching, resume writing and interviewing tips, gasoline assistance, a non-food pantry, and community referrals in hopes of breaking the cycle of poverty and to enhance their success. Thanks to our generous community for supporting SPSFBC and this event.
Riders can purchase an optional "Poker Score Card" to make your ride a "Poker Ride" and to support our non-profit partner. Turn in your score cards at the post-ride party. Winning poker hand will be announce and will win an E-bike and helmet sponsored by Pacific Cycle.
